The Arrow missile defense system shot a missile fired by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen out of Earth’s atmosphere.
Israel is the first in the world to fire a ballistic missile outside the Earth’s atmosphere. The Telegraph writes about it on Sunday, November 5.
On October 31, the ballistic missile was launched from Yemen by the Iran-backed Houthis and flew more than 1,600 km over the Arabian Peninsula to its target in the Israeli port city of Eilat.
In response, Israel used its Arrow missile defense system to shoot a ballistic missile out of Earth’s atmosphere, in what is believed to be the first combat ever to have taken place in space.
In a statement, the IDF said Air Force systems tracked the missile’s trajectory and intercepted it “at the most appropriate operational time and location.”

It is known that the Israeli Air Force is armed with several batteries of the Arrow 2 system, which uses a hypersonic interceptor to destroy missiles flying in space.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense published a video showing the moment of the interception. There, you barely notice the cylindrical shape of the ballistic missile before an explosion appears on the screen.

“A successful blockade is more than protecting the people of Eilat and dealing a blow to the arrogance of the Houthis,” the publication quoted IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari as saying. “More importantly, it proves to Iran, which is behind the launch and delivery of the missile, that Israel is capable of acting against it.” missile program, and this has broader implications for conflict in the region.”
Israel will not agree to a cease-fire in Gaza unless the terrorist group Hamas releases the hostages it is holding.
The Israel Defense Forces attacked Hezbollah military infrastructure in response to the launches from Lebanon.
