Major General Viktor Khorenko, commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, will continue to serve in the Ministry of Defense. The head of the military department, Rustem Umerov, announced this on Facebook on Saturday, November 4.
“Yesterday, according to my proposal, as provided by law, a personnel decision was made regarding the commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Major General Khorenko is now needed in a certain direction, he continues who will serve in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,” the minister wrote.
Umerov noted that further commenting on the reasons and requirements for changing high military positions during the war would give the enemy reasons to weaken Ukraine.
Let’s recall that on November 3, President Zelensky dismissed Khorenko and appointed Sergei Lupanchuk as the new commander of the Special Forces.
In his evening speech, the head of state said that Khorenko will continue to carry out special assignments as part of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
The ex-commander of the MTR said that he did not know the reasons for the resignation, and that he learned about it from the media.
