This was reported by the publication “Public” with reference to the deputy general director of the medical institution, Natalya Demina.
Children aged six to seven years. There are some in grades 5-6. All patients are from Ivano-Frankivsk. Their condition is moderate,” she noted. – There are no difficulties. There are patients who were hospitalized on October 31 and November 1.
The publication, citing Tatyana Dzhus, Deputy General Director of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, notes that since the beginning of 2023, 12 people have been ill with hepatitis A in the region, including one child.
According to Juice, these are periodic cases. They were recorded in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Bogorodchany, Dolinsky and Nadvirnyany communities.
The number 12 does not indicate anything. But from an epidemiological point of view, we are at the peak of the incidence of viral hepatitis. Especially hepatitis A, because it has a cycle of five to seven years,” Juice noted. — Our last outbreaks of this disease were recorded in 2017-2018. Compared to 2022, there is an increase in incidence.
At the same time, she notes, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region there are conditions for the spread of this infection.
This is because, in general, in our region the intensity of the epidemiological process is on average higher than in Ukraine,” explained Juice.
She noted that viral hepatitis is a seasonal disease. Cases of hepatitis A recorded in the Ivano-Frankivsk region began to be registered at the beginning of 2023 in the winter-spring period and in the first two months of autumn.
On average, the incubation period for hepatitis A lasts up to 28 days. But it can last three months – it depends on the infectiousness of the patient,” Juice explained.
According to her, the most dangerous thing about this disease is that after recovery, a person remains a carrier of the hepatitis A antigen for the rest of his life. In addition, this hepatitis A affects the liver.
Let us remind you that recently an outbreak of Hepatitis A was recorded in the Vinnytsia region.
