Kalush City Council Deputy Taras Baranich, who a few days ago killed a 76-year-old cyclist, was sentenced by the Ivano-Frankivsk City Court to detention without the right to bail until at least December 24, 2023. ZAXID.NET reported it.
It was noted that the accident occurred in the village of Golyn, Kalush district, on the N-10 Stryi – Chernivtsi highway. A 37-year-old driver of a Volvo XC-60 collided with a 76-year-old cyclist, who died at the scene.
The police found that the driver of the Volvo was drunk while driving. 1.12 ppm of alcohol was found in his blood. Investigators informed him of the suspicion. The police noted that the driver was a resident of the village of Sivka-Kalushskaya, as well as a deputy of one of the local councils.
As the local publication Vіkna wrote, we are talking about the deputy of the Kalush City Council Taras Barnich, who is a senior firefighter and rescuer of the 24th state fire and rescue unit of the State Emergency Service in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
