Stephen Colbert wanted people to know what happened “on the day we all said, ‘What happened?’
In a “Late Show” monologue on Wednesday, Colbert discussed his expectations for a live broadcast on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2021 of the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Within two weeks, the Jan. 6 committee will present the results of more than 1,000 interviews about the violent incident. The hearings also included statements from a police officer injured in the attack and a documentary director who recorded a mob storming the building.
Colbert, who was disturbed live after Thursday’s broadcast, said the hearings were a good opportunity for Americans to learn about the attempt to retract the results of the 2020 presidential election. They asked if interested committee listening to the people.
“Here, listening is only important if people are listening to it,” Kolber said.
He then shared a real-style promo full of special effects, in which the deep-voiced announcer spread explosive revelations “under the Capitol megatum.”
