The invasion of Gaza could begin after the US installs air defenses for its troops in the Middle East. The Pentagon is trying to deploy about a dozen air defense systems in the region, including to protect U.S. troops serving in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.
According to US military and officials, the US army could become a target for militants after the invasion of Gaza begins. That is why Washington insisted that the IDF wait until air defenses were deployed. This is expected to be done later this week.
Israel has so far agreed, at the request of the United States, to deploy air defense systems to protect American troops in the region ahead of the expected ground invasion of Gaza, American and Israeli officials said, the newspaper writes.
Let’s remember that officials in the White House and the US State Department said that now is not the right time for a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
