The German publication Bild claims that it has recordings of a conversation between the former director of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, and the general director of the Russian Progress rocket and space center, Dmitry Baranov, in which they discuss an attack on a large Ukrainian city by a space rocket filled with explosives.

A message published on the publication’s Telegram channel states that this conversation took place in January 2023. During it, officials decided that it would be optimal to launch the rocket from the northern Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region of Russia.
It is noted that during the conversation certain obstacles to the implementation of this plan were indicated:
- According to Baranov, the main problem is that due to supersonic entry into the atmosphere, there are heavy high-explosive bombs or guided warheads will overheat at a speed of 6 km/sec. Rogozin promised to consult with designer Yuri Solomonov, and after a few days he allegedly found a solution;
- parts of the rocket may fall on Russian territory;
- the error in case of bruise can be from 50 to 100 km.
Baranov claimed that it would take about six months to implement the plan. According to Bild, the plan was communicated to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on January 16. How he reacted to it is unknown.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine commented on this information.
On the national telethon, GUR representative Andrei Yusov emphasized that Rogozin, in the context of this news, is comparable to a “monkey with a grenade.”
“We used to talk about a monkey with a grenade, but now we talk about Rogozin with a rocket,” Yusov emphasized.
He suggested that Rogozin could actually offer such a thing. According to Yusov, Rogozin is “a Russian Nazi, obsessed with imperial ideas, very far from the space industry.”
When rockets were launched for scientific progress to conquer space, and today these people can discuss how to use this heritage as scrap that should kill the civilian population,” Yusov emphasized.
