The components for the bomb were hidden in a cat carrier, The Washington Post writes.
The publication notes that the Ukrainian intelligence service was preparing for this operation in collaboration with the CIA. Tens of millions of dollars were spent on preparations, and the United States provided Ukraine with advanced surveillance systems and a huge array of intelligence data.
The target of the operation was allegedly not Dugina, but her father, the ideologist of the “Russian world”, propagandist Alexander Dugin.
The car in which Daria Dugina was was blown up in the Moscow region in August 2022. According to WP, Dugin’s daughter died accidentally. The components of the explosive device were allegedly brought into Russia by a Ukrainian citizen, who left the country with her daughter shortly after the explosion.
Kiev denies involvement in the murder of Daria Dugina.
In the Washington Post material, the SBU and another Ukrainian intelligence service, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, are credited with a number of other high-profile special operations – attacks on the Crimean Bridge, Russian ships in the Black Sea and a drone strike on the Kremlin.
In particular, according to the authors, over the past 20 months, the SBU and other special services have carried out dozens of liquidations of Russian officials, military personnel, and collaborators in the occupied territories.
The article states that the Ukrainian special forces that carried out the operations were created in cooperation with the CIA since 2015 and with US funding.
WP sources among American officials acknowledge the close cooperation of the CIA with the SBU, but deny the involvement of US intelligence agencies in operations aimed at killing Russian citizens.
Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the WP article. However, during the preparation of the material, journalists contacted the head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk and he told them that all the targets hit by the SBU were completely legitimate.
Fair punishment will overtake all traitors, war criminals and collaborators,” said Malysh.
