Defense Minister Rustem Umerov thanked Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin for the transfer of ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine. The head of the Ministry of Defense speaks about it reported on Twitter on Saturday, October 21.
“I informed my American colleague about the situation at the front. I thanked the US leadership and personally Minister Austin for providing Ukraine with ATACMS. It has a big impact on the battlefield,” he wrote.
The Pentagon press service reported that Austin confirmed the readiness of the White House to ask Congress to allocate the resources necessary to ensure that Ukraine can continue to protect its people.
Austin and Umerov also discussed the successful results of last week’s Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Brussels and recent developments in Ukraine.
We remind you that on the night of October 17, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the airports near Berdyansk and Lugansk. Special operations forces reported that the airport’s runways were damaged and nine helicopters, special equipment, an air defense launcher and an ammunition depot were hit.
