Israel says it is preparing for the next phase of the fight against Hamas

The IDF stressed that the return of all abductees and the search for missing persons remain a priority.

The Israel Defense Forces are preparing for the next stages of the fight against Hamas in the Gaza Strip as the fighting continues. This is what IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Friday, October 20, as quoted by CNN.

“The country’s main priority is the return of all abductees and the search for missing persons by all possible means: civil, intelligence and military,” Hagari said.

He noted that all checkpoints in the Gaza Strip are closed and no aid is getting there.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the war would have three main phases, the last of which would be the creation of a new security regime in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg reports that the US and EU are asking Israel to delay the operation in Gaza, in part to buy time for the release of hostages held by Hamas.
