Romania will receive this system under a NATO agreement on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement with one of the partner countries. We are talking about one of the most powerful counter-drone systems in Europe. It will be installed on the border with Ukraine. This decision was made after a number of incidents involving falling debris from Russian UAVs. HotNews.ro reports this.
As you know, Russian drones have been detected in Romania more than once. The Romanian Ministry of Defense announced the likelihood of violation of the country’s airspace by Russian Shaheds during massive attacks on the territory of Ukraine on the night of September 30.
Let us recall that at the end of September, Romania decided to move air defense systems closer to its populated areas on the Danube on the border with Ukraine. In addition, the Romanian army is increasing the number of military observation posts and patrols in the Danube. Four additional F-16 fighters will be deployed and the no-fly zone will be expanded.
