Intense fighting continues, with the Ukrainian military currently controlling the outskirts of the city.
The situation in Severodonetsk is very difficult, the Russian Federation is throwing away all reserves to capture the city. This was stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by the head of the military administration of the Lugansk region, Sergei Gaidai.
He noted that for the Russian military, the capture of Severodonetsk was a principled position, as Moscow had stated that it was completely under the control of the occupiers.
“In fact, there are fights in the city. Therefore, they throw all their reserves there and use everything they have. The situation is evolving dynamically,” Gaidai said.
According to the head of the OVA, a few days ago, Ukrainian special forces entered and cleaned up almost half of the city.
“When the Russians realized this, they just started to level it with airstrikes and artillery. It was pointless to sit in some tall buildings and wait until everything was completely destroyed,” he said.
Therefore, the Armed Forces of Ukraine now re -controls only the outskirts of the city.
“But the fighting is still going on, Severodonetsk we are defending, it is impossible to say that the Russians have full control of the city. And in the near future, I hope this will not happen,” Gaidai added.
He also stressed that the Lisichansk-Bakhmut highway is not controlled by Russian troops, but is under heavy fire.
For now, the possibility of evacuation and delivery of humanitarian cargo to Lisichansk remains. At the same time, many city residents refused to leave.
“Some of them are old people who just don’t want to go anywhere, their thesis is:“ here we are born, here we will die. ”Others are careless people who sit and think it’s a shell, a bomb or the rocket will not fly to them.Well, there is a small part of the people waiting for the “Russian world,” said the head of UVA.
Earlier, the General Staff reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had successfully suppressed the enemy attack on Severodonetsk, and the fighting was continuing.
In the Toshkovka area, the enemy offensive was unsuccessful. Also, the Ukrainian military rejected the invaders who tried to advance in the direction of Ustinovka.
