The head of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, said that those mobilized would not return home while the war was going on. This angered the patriotic public.
Russian authorities are afraid to officially announce mass mobilization for fear of protests. This was said on Sunday, October 15, by the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate Andrei Yusov on the air of the “We are Ukraine” channel.
At the same time, he emphasized that the mobilization in the Russian Federation has not stopped and people are constantly being driven to war.
The intelligence official emphasized that we are talking about tens of thousands of people per month.
“The machine is being prepared for new waves of mobilization. Legally, the law and the powers of repressive bodies are increased in such a way that at any moment the unexpected announcement of a decision on a new wave of mobilization will not meet of tangible resistance,” said a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
He noted that no matter how the dictatorship views public rebellion, the Kremlin fears it, just as the Russians fear mobilization itself.
“They are afraid that they will take people from the street. This is what they are doing now in the occupied territories of Ukraine. In particular, in Donbass,” said Yusov.
The Kremlin will try to reduce unpopular political measures in preparation for the Russian presidential election, so it is unlikely to conduct a new wave of mobilization until March 2024.
