The reason for the postponement of the invasion was weather conditions. The attack was delayed for several days due to cloud cover, which “would have made it difficult for Israeli pilots and drone operators to provide air cover for ground forces.” The New York Times writes about this.
According to the publication, during the special operation, in addition to infantry, Israeli strike forces will include tanks, sappers and special forces. Aviation in the form of planes, helicopters and drones will cover the ground forces. Artillery will also be used, both from land and sea.
According to the Israeli military, their goal is to defeat the Hamas group and eliminate its leaders responsible for the October 7 attack on Israel.
Recall that on October 13, the Israel Defense Forces called on civilians to evacuate the Gaza Strip within 24 hours. And on October 14, the IDF announced that it was completing preparations for a large-scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip, and the attack would be joint and coordinated from air, sea and land. Meanwhile, Israeli aircraft continued to carry out massive airstrikes against Hamas militant targets.
