The media said that Israeli soldiers found documents indicating that the attack had been prepared since October 2022.
Hamas militants may have planned their deadly attack in southern Israel more than a year in advance. This was confirmed by eight pages marked Top Secret found in the war zone, reports the British TV channel Sky News.
The media said the date “October 2022” was on the cover of the stack of documents. This could mean that plans were made at least 12 months before the attack.
The documents, written in Arabic, were found by Israeli soldiers and rescuers, the media confirmed. It follows from them that Hamas militants are planning attacks on civilians and hostage taking.
Experts told journalists that it is difficult for them to confirm with 100% certainty the authenticity of the documents, but they are inclined to believe that they are real.
The four pages were publicly posted on a Telegram channel run by South First Responders, a volunteer group that helps recover bodies. Four more pages were subsequently given to the TV channel. They are all related to a military plan aimed at Kibbutz Mefalsim, located near Gaza. However, this plan was not successful: the militants were rejected by the local security forces.
The suggestion that Hamas’ plans may have been carefully crafted in October was a “very serious” failure by Israeli intelligence.
Some pages also predicted the arrival time of Israeli reinforcements, warning that troops stationed nearby could reach the kibbutz “within 3-5 minutes.” Hamas documents have already been confiscated by Israeli forces after pre-launch attacks, including in 2014.
The documents show dates in the Gregorian calendar, not the Islamic calendar, despite Hamas being an Islamist organization. However, experts noted that this was unusual, and one of them indicated that it had been observed in documents published by other Islamist organizations.
The first page of the document also shows the symbol used by Hamas’ armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades. The same image appears in other Hamas documents and on its public Telegram channel.
South First Responders first began posting collected videos and photos on Sunday, October 8th. The first reports appeared from the site of the Supernova Festival in Reim, and then from various communities.
One of the pictures shows a map detailing the route of Hamas in the area of the settlements of Kisufim and Ein HaShlosha.
Let us remind you that the Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel Yevgeny Korniychuk said that the information that Ukrainians consider missing may be in the captivity of Hamas has not been confirmed.
