The successes of the Russians during the Liman and Avdeevka offensive were “very few,” their actions were illogical, and the offensive operation itself did not come as a surprise to the United States. He noted that, like the previous offensive, the Russians are actively using “wave attack” tactics, throwing untrained soldiers without appropriate military equipment into Ukrainian positions. At the same time, Ukraine “effectively and intelligently resists.”
“The Ukrainians are trying to repel these offensive maneuvers. The progress of the Russian units, even where they are, looks very poor,” said Kirby.
Kirby emphasized that the Russian attack shows that the United States must continue to support Ukraine.
“That’s why it’s critical that Congress uphold its commitment to the Ukrainian people and act to maintain our support,” Kirby added.
Kirby assured that the United States continues to support Ukraine in its fight against the enemy.
