In Nikolaev, the police exposed a group of criminals who set fire to special equipment of a company working in the field of road construction and repair. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
It was learned that the attackers destroyed the cold milling equipment used by the company in the construction and repair of roads in the region.
Several versions of the crime are pursued, including the elimination of business competitors in the construction market.
“According to the investigation, three citizens were involved in the burning of equipment in Nikolaev, two of them have already been identified. These are residents of the Odessa region, 33 and 42 years old. Businessmen prepared for the crime in advance: they rented a car, bought fuel, scouted the area, checked for possible obstacles, and also calculated the escape route,” the message said.
It is reported that the men rented a car in Odessa and left for Nikolaev.
“In this way, they tried to confuse the traces of their illegal activities. On the eve of the crime, they checked the parking area, checked the presence of CCTV cameras and possible witnesses. Having made sure that there were no obstacles, the following night , two residents of the Odessa region soaked the equipment with fuel and set it on fire, the third accomplice. As a result of the arson, the cold milling machine was destroyed, so the owner of the group of companies suffered more than UAH 10 million ,” the police press service reports.
14 searches were conducted in the apartments of the defendants and persons who may be involved in the crime.
Two members of the criminal group were informed on suspicion of intentional damage to another person’s property by arson, committed by the prior conspiracy of a group of people, causing damage to the property of a certain of large size; the identity of the third person involved is still unknown. established.
