Massive fighting broke out in Israel on Saturday, October 7. Hamas attacked the country with rockets, and armed Palestinian militants infiltrated southern Israel.
Egypt warned Israel that Hamas was preparing an attack three days before the attack. The BBC reported this on Wednesday, October 11, citing a statement by the head of the House Foreign Relations Committee, Michael McCaul.
“We know that Egypt warned the Israelis three days in advance that this kind of event could happen,” McCaul told reporters after a closed intelligence briefing for lawmakers on the Mideast crisis.
McCall declined to “go deeper into the mystery,” but stressed that a warning had been issued.
“I think the question is at what level,” he added.
Let’s remember that on October 7, Hamas militants carried out a massive rocket attack on Israel and entered its territory. In response, the Israeli army announced the start of Operation Iron Swords and attacked the group’s targets in the Gaza Strip.
According to media reports, the death toll in Israel has exceeded 1,200 people, with around 3,000 injured.
