Minister Igor Klimenko announced this on October 11 during a telethon.
It is proposed to punish violators with fines of 34-170 thousand UAH if this happens for the first time. If again – 340-680 thousand UAH.
A check is also being carried out on the police officers involved in the investigation of journalist Mikhail Tkach.
The police cannot force the owners of clubs and restaurants that violate the curfew to comply with the rules, Klimenko said.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the police do not have a legal mechanism.
He said that the police “definitely do not ignore” the work of the club and “patrolls go to the address,” but it is impossible to force the club owners to comply with the rules.
Such establishments disguise their work. You can’t tell from external signs that a restaurant or club is open: the windows are dark, there is no music. Clients are admitted discreetly, by appointment. The police have no reason to break in. This requires a court sanction… The solution to this issue is complex and requires the involvement of various authorities. To put it simply: give us a legal mechanism, we will use it,” explained the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Earlier, journalists discovered that, despite the curfew, one of the capital’s clubs was actively receiving visitors. Then the police were called, but they refused to check the establishment.
Mikhail Tkach reported on October 11 that in Kyiv they began to dismantle the illegally installed terrace of the Boho club, where the UP noticed a violation of the curfew.
