Muneo Suzuki, during a visit to Moscow, said he was “100 percent confident” in Russia’s victory in the war against Ukraine.
On Tuesday, October 10, the Japanese opposition Innovation Party expelled from its membership MP Muneo Suzuki, who visited Russia without warning. This was reported by Kyodo.
Party members in a meeting decided to expel the MP, amid calls for strong disciplinary action against him. This came after Suzuki visited Russia, despite the Japanese government’s recommendation to citizens and including politicians to avoid traveling there and without warning his own party.
On October 1, Suzuki met with Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko. In addition, during a trip to Moscow, he said that he was “100 percent confident” in Russia’s victory in the war against Ukraine.
In fact, the deputy was in the Russian Federation privately, but spoke on behalf of the parliament, as an official representative of the country’s legislative body.
It was the first known visit by a Japanese lawmaker to Russia since its invasion of Ukraine.
Suzuki is a veteran of Japanese politics with more than 40 years of parliamentary experience.
Let’s recall that the Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, during a visit to Kyiv on September 9, announced the readiness of the Japanese side to start negotiations in the near future on the conclusion of a bilateral security agreement with Ukraine .
Aid to Ukraine from Japan has reached $7.6 billion.
