The representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said at a Security Council meeting that the attack on the village of Groza took place during the funeral of one of the supposedly “high-ranking Ukrainian nationalists.” The regional police commented on this statement.

Andrei Kozyr, whose body was reburied in the village of Groza, served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and died in 2022. “He did not occupy high levels in the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” said Sergei Bolvinov, head of the regional police investigation department. Local residents gathered at his wake.
Pensioners, teachers, doctors, friends. All the dead and wounded are civilians. There are not a single dead or wounded military personnel among them, he added.
Kozyr’s son left the army for health reasons. He also died upon the arrival of the Russian Iskander.
So far it is known that the death toll has increased to 53, but this data is not final, since DNA examinations are ongoing.
