Winter has come to the Ukrainian Carpathians. The first snow fell on Mount Pop-Ivan on Sunday, October 8th.
On Sunday, October 8, the first snow fell on the summit of Mount Pop Ivan in the Carpathians, where the former White Elephant Observatory is located. Corresponding photos were published by traveler Lesya Chernyatovich on Facebook.
According to the girl, it started snowing around 1:30 pm, and before that it was raining.
The footage shows the ground covered with snow in a thin layer. At the same time, there was a very strong wind above.
Tourists also reported light snow at the foot of the highest mountain in Ukraine – Goverlya.
The Montenegrin mountain rescue post reported that at 9:00 on October 8, there will be fog, rain, an air temperature of 1°C, and a wind gust of up to 8 m/s on Mount Pop Ivan Chernogorsky.
Pop Ivan is one of the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians, with a height of 2028.5 m. It is located at the southeastern end of the main ridge of the Chornohora massif, on the border of the Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions.
