It was last used in 1973 during the Yom Kippur War.

The Israel Defense Forces said that in the next 12 hours they will launch a military operation “that will end the Gaza enclave,” take control of it and destroy all terrorists on Israeli territory.

The IDF also said it was prepared for violence to spread to the West Bank or the Lebanese border in the north.
