The command of the UN Interim Peacekeeping Force in Lebanon has decided to step up patrols on the Lebanese-Israeli border. This was announced on Saturday, October 7, by the official representative of the UN interim force in Lebanon, Andrea Tenenti, Sky News reports.
“The peacekeepers have increased patrols throughout the area of responsibility, due to the threat of missile attacks,” Tenenti said.
According to him, peacekeepers have been in constant contact with the Lebanese and Israeli military since the beginning of the events in Gaza to ensure effective coordination and avoid “misunderstandings.”
“Our main objective is to maintain stability along the border line in southern Lebanon and prevent any escalation that could have serious consequences for the civilian population,” he stressed.
The number of Israelis killed in the Hamas attack has risen to 250.
