Militants from the Palestinian Hamas movement have entered Israeli territory in several areas, the Israeli military has warned.
On Saturday morning, Israel came under a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. About that reported press service of the Israel Defense Forces on October 7.
Air raid sirens sounded in many communities in southern and central Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
“In the past half hour, rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. Residents of southern and central Israel are strongly advised to stay in protected areas and follow the instructions of the Home Front Command, ” said the statement.
According to the military, militants from the Palestinian Hamas movement entered Israeli territory in several areas.
The head of Israel’s Ministry of Defense, Yoav Galant, ordered the recruitment of reservists. And Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said it would meet with top security officials in the coming hours.
Local media reported the death of a 70-year-old woman near the city of Ashdod as a result of rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip. He was seriously injured when a rocket hit his house. The doctors could not save the girl.

Earlier, an explosion was heard on the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip. At least five Palestinians were killed then. The explosion was preceded by clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers stationed at the border fence.
