The Moldovan head of state said the Wagner PMC wanted to encourage anti-government protests to become violent.
Wagner PMC mercenaries and its founder Yevgeny Prigozhin are behind the attempted coup in Moldova. This is what the President of Moldova Maia Sandu said, reports the Financial Times.
According to him, Prigozhin is planning a coup in early 2023.
“According to the information we have, this is a plan prepared by Prigozhin’s team. The situation is truly dramatic, and we must protect ourselves,” the head of state emphasized.
He added that they wanted to encourage anti-government protests to become violent.
Sandu noted that the Russian Federation uses various methods, including cash and bank cards issued in Dubai, to send money to Moldova to bribe voters.
Earlier, the leader of Moldova appealed to the EU with a request to impose sanctions against companies associated with Moldova’s pro-Russian politician Elon Shor. At the time, the president said he had evidence that Russia wanted to strengthen politics ahead of next year’s presidential election and parliamentary elections in 2025.
Moldovan intelligence services have discovered at least 20 million euros being transferred by the Russian Federation to Moldova.
We remind you that Moldova will no longer buy Russian gas, because European prices are lower than Gazprom.
