African swine fever virus (ASF) was detected in sausages sold in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug of the Russian Federation. The TASS agency reported this on October 6, citing the authorities of several municipalities in the region.
“Dear residents, please note that in our district several groups of products contaminated with the African swine fever virus were found to be sold in the region,” the Yugorsk city administration said in a statement.
It was noted that the genome of the ASF virus was found in two types of the company’s sausage products Old Dvor sausagesas well as the company’s sausages Vladimir standard.
At the same time, the authorities emphasized that the virus does not spread to humans, it is only dangerous for pigs and wild boars.
This information was also disseminated by the administrations of settlements in the Berezovsky and Surgutsky districts of Ugra.
African swine fever is a viral disease that is chronic and characterized by fever. The list includes those that are particularly dangerous for animals. Only wild and domesticated pigs suffer from it.
