The aid package may come under the current government. However, the president called for respect for the results of the parliamentary elections, which were won by the Smer-SD party, promising voters “not a single bullet for Ukraine.”

Slovak President Zuzana Caputova spoke out against providing military aid to Ukraine after the victory of the Smer-SD party in the parliamentary elections, promising voters to stop such aid. Local publication Dennik N reported this on Wednesday, October 4.

According to the publication, the Slovak Ministry of Defense is considering the possibility of allocating another package of military aid to Ukraine, which may come under the current government. However, this was opposed by Caputova, who was politically responsible for the government.

According to Caputova, the results of the parliamentary elections should be respected, because the Smer-SD party promised voters that “there is not a single bullet for Ukraine.”

Ignoring this position would create an unfortunate precedent for the future, Caputova said.

Its spokesman Martin Strizhinets told the publication that the head of state agreed on the need to “respect the results of democratic elections.”

As you know, Robert Fico’s pro-Russian Smer-SD party won the parliamentary elections in Slovakia. He criticized EU sanctions against Russia and vowed to end military aid to Ukraine.

After announcing the election results, Fico made a statement on Ukraine.
