Law enforcement officers reported suspicion to the mayor of the city of Sumy, who was exposed for accepting bribes in the amount of more than 2 million Hryvnias. This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday, October 3.
“The officer’s actions are qualified under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. His accomplice, the director of the Infrastructure Department of the Sumy Region, is also charged under Part 4 of Article 368 of Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the message said.
The investigation established that the officials asked for money for solving the issue of the executive committee of the Sumy City Council establishing a new economically justified tariff for household waste management for one of the companies and not creating the artificial barrier for it to carry out business activities.
In November 2022 – October 2023, officials received bribes worth UAH 2.13 million.
On Monday, October 2, the mayor of the city and the director of the department were exposed to the red immediately after receiving 1.43 million UAH.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect has now been decided. The prosecutor will insist on applying preventive measures in the form of detention with the alternative of bail.
It is known that the post of the city mayor of Sumy is occupied by Alexander Lysenko.
We remind you that the employees of the SBU and NABU exposed the judge of the district court of the city of Brovary of the Kyiv region. He asked for $4,000 for “proper resolution of the issue” during the trial.
