President Vladimir Zelensky said what issues were discussed at the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union held in Kyiv.
Ukraine’s entry into the European Union is a matter of time. And now the main goal of our country is to start membership negotiations at the end of 2023. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced this on Monday, October 2, in an evening video message.
The President said that at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the EU, which took place in Kyiv, he heard that such a goal is completely possible.
“Ukraine will certainly do its part in the work – the seven recommendations of the European Commission. And it is very important that there is a similar readiness for a political decision in Ukraine, at the beginning of negotiations, on the part of the European Union and all member states ,” Zelensky added.
Let’s remember that last year Ukraine was granted candidate status for joining the European Union. After that, our country was given some conditions that must be met for membership.
The European Union will soon expand from Portuguese Lisbon to Ukrainian Lugansk. This forecast was voiced by German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock.
The European Commission said that there is a real hope of starting negotiations on the accession of Ukraine to the EU in the winter.
