He called the informal meeting of ministers in Kyiv “important”, and commented on his absence from it as follows:
There are many reasons for this, including health status. But first of all, this is due to the fact that in politics, in particular bilateral politics, between different countries, we have a period of boom and bust. “As for relations between Poland and Ukraine, we are entering a period of decline, and my absence is partly an expression of this,” Rau said on Monday on Polsat News.
When asked whether his absence in Kiev was related to Vladimir Zelensky’s speech at the UN General Assembly, Rau did not answer directly, but emphasized that Ukraine and Poland have “an absolutely common strategic interest – to stop Russian imperialism.”
The incident with the transfer of a sectoral dispute to an international forum, also in the way it happened – at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, led to the fact that the trust of our society in the current policy of the Ukrainian government towards Poland, to put it mildly, was shaken, the Polish diplomat believes.
On October 2, EU foreign ministers hold a meeting for the first time outside the current borders of the European Union – in Kyiv.
At the meeting, they discussed Vladimir Zelensky’s “peace plan” to attract more support.
