Personal sanctions will apply to officials of the Russian occupation administrations in the Zaporozhye, Kherson, Donetsk regions and Crimea. The list includes organizations and Russian officials who directly acted to undermine Ukraine and threaten its territorial integrity. This was reported by The Guardian.
In addition, the Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov and the Secretary of the Central Election Commission of Russia Natalya Budarina were on the sanctions list.
The British Foreign Office said that these individuals will be included in the list of sanctions in response to Russia’s attempts to use fake elections to legitimize its illegal control over the Kherson, Zaporozhye, Donetsk, Lugansk regions and Crimea, which are part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine. The assets of these people will be frozen, and they themselves will be banned from entering British territory.
It was previously reported that the European Union is preparing for a “fight” over what should be included in the 12th package of sanctions against Russia. Diamonds, nuclear fuel and IT services from Russia may be subject to sanctions.
