EU Ambassador Katarina Maternova admitted that some standards of the European Commission in Ukraine have been fully met.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, in a conversation with the new EU Ambassador Katarina Maternova, promised to finish work on the seven standards of the European Commission within a month. Maternova spoke about this in an interview with European Pravda.
“President Zelensky said at our bilateral meeting that he hopes that next month Ukraine will complete all the remaining steps,” Maternova said.
Madam Ambassador admitted that some criteria have been fully met. We are talking, for example, about the requirements for the restoration of the governing bodies of the judiciary, the High Council of Justice and the High Qualifications Commission of Judges, the criterion of the media law, etc.
“I must also emphasize that you have made very important progress on anti-corruption standards, as well as the continuation of asset declarations. Therefore, I believe that a great deal of progress has been made,” Maternova said.
“But at the same time, from the point of view of combating money laundering, there is still an unresolved issue – the known law on politically exposed people,” said Maternova.
The Ambassador also said that Ukraine’s measures on the issue of protecting national minorities are currently being assessed.
Let’s recall that Zelensky called on the Rada to quickly adopt European integration laws.
