Experts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) write about this in their latest report.
Russian and Ukrainian officials are increasingly reporting a decrease in the intensity of attacks on the Kupyansky and Limansky directions. This suggests that Ukrainian troops have pushed Russian forces back from the Kupyansk-Svatovo-Kremennaya line and have significantly weakened their offensive efforts in the area.
According to ISW, Russian troops hoped to pin Ukrainian forces to this line and divert them from more important sectors of the front.
The morning report of the General Staff of Ukraine on Thursday reported the absence of Russian ground attacks in the Kupyansky and Limansky directions, and in the evening there was only one attack south of Kremennaya.
At the same time, Russian aviation has become more active in this direction, experts write. According to them, aviation is increasingly active in the Kharkov, Lugansk and Kherson regions and less active in the western part of the Zaporozhye region, where Ukrainian troops are conducting a counter-offensive.
In particular, the press secretary of the Kherson regional military administration, Alexander Tolokonnikov, said the day before that over the past three days, Russian troops have increased the number of air strikes on Kherson and the region by three to four times – more than 50 air bombs were dropped on targets in the area.
