Under what will this mission be launched, who will participate in it, what will be its scale, what will it look like – all these questions are being discussed.
The United States is working with allies and partners to establish an independent international mission in Nagorno-Karabakh. US State Department Speaker Matthew Miller announced this on Thursday, September 28.
According to him, such a mission should be done “faster.”
“It should provide transparency, certainty and confidence to the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said.
When a reporter asked how seriously the United States was taking this task, Miller replied “very seriously.”
The mission involves humanitarian assistance and meeting humanitarian needs in the region.
Miller also indicated that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken raised this issue in a conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“The government of Azerbaijan has also expressed support for the international mission,” Miller said.
The Armenian government announced the evacuation of more than 74 thousand people from Nagorno-Karabakh.
We remind you that the unrecognized republic of Nagorno-Karabakh has ceased to exist. All its “state bodies” will dissolve on January 1, 2024. The local population must independently decide on their choice of place of residence.
As is known, on September 19, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced the holding of “anti-terrorist measures” in Karabakh to “restore constitutional order.” On the same day, Baku announced the conditions for the end of the operation, including the surrender and disarmament of forces in the region.
