The head of the US State Department explained what exactly he was talking about when Bayen spoke about a “sustainable and just peace” for Ukraine.
The world after the end of Russia’s war against Ukraine must reflect the principles of the UN Charter and not leave conditions for repeated aggression. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced this on Thursday, September 28, during the celebration of The Atlantic.
When asked by a journalist what he thinks a just and lasting peace for Ukraine is, Blinken explained that its existence implies two things.
“Fair in the sense that it reflects the basic principles underlying the UN Charter – territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence of Ukraine. Firm in the sense that you want to make sure that if you achieve peace, you will not leave conditions which will allow this The invasion will be repeated in one year, in two, in five years. These are two things. These are two guides,” he said.
Blinken stressed that Kyiv will make decisions about peace.
“We have been and will be closely connected with each other. And the president has repeatedly said that this decision should be made by Ukrainians. There is nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine – this remains the main guide for what we do,” he added.
The peace formula promoted by the Ukrainian leadership is essentially a “pure ultimatum” for Russia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this.
Let’s remember that last November at the G20 summit in Bali, Zelensky announced the Ukrainian 10-point Peace Formula. The President said that Ukraine should not offer compromises with conscience, sovereignty, territory and independence.
The head of state believes that the Peace Formula can be implemented within six months, and now preparations are underway for the Global Peace Summit.
