The Cabinet of Ministers appointed new deputy defense ministers. The opportunity to appoint a new team was one of the conditions for the arrival of Rustem Umerov as the head of the Ministry of Defense. Who will work in the ministry now?
Three new appointments
The Deputy for Finance will be Yuri Dzhigir. For the last three years, he has been advising the World Bank on the financial aspects of health-related reforms. In 2018-2020 he worked as Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine. He has more than 20 years of economic experience in supporting reforms, social policy and financial decentralization in Ukraine, Eastern Balkans, Central Asia.
Natalia Kalmykova – Deputy for Social Development. Since February 2022, he has been the executive director of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund, before that he was an adviser to the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and deputy director of the Come Back Alive Foundation.
Ekaterina Chernogorenko – Deputy for Digital Development. He is the project manager for the Drone Army project. Since 2018, he has been a project coordinator for electronic services of ЄMalyatko, electronic sick leave and the implementation of COVID certificates in Diya.
“The main priority for new team members is our soldiers, their life, health and dignity. Our most important task is to ensure respect for the dignity of soldiers in all interactions with the state,” said Umerov.
Who else should we expect?
According to media reports, one of the top government officials, on condition of anonymity, explained to the publication that the Minister of Defense is considering the candidacy of the commander of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Sergei Naev in the position of his first deputy. Now this seat is occupied by Alexander Pavlyuk, who is also promised to be fired.
Will also join Umerov’s team in the ministry Snaver SeythalilevDeputy for Digital Development of the Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories.
Among those planned to be appointed is former Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Gavrilov.
Regarding representatives in other areas, in particular international, consultations are still ongoing.
But apparently volunteer Dana Yarovaya was not among Umerov’s representatives.
