The association believes that children should not be punished for actions “for which responsibility lies solely with adults” and is convinced that football “should never abandon its messages of peace and hope.” This is stated in a statement by UEFA.
The Ukrainian Football Association has already responded to this decision and stated that it is “baseless and tolerant of Russian aggressive policy.” Ukrainian teams will not participate in any competitions with the participation of Russian teams. The UAF also contacted other UEFA member associations with a request to boycott possible matches involving teams from Russia, subject to their admission.
Let us remind you that on September 26, UEFA returned Russian teams under the age of 17 to official international competitions. They are allowed to compete in tournaments in a neutral status – without a flag and anthem, and are also prohibited from holding games on Russian territory.
