Polish media reported that the European Commission decided to represent EU countries in the dispute before the World Trade Organization.
The European Commission will represent EU countries when considering Ukraine’s complaint to the World Trade Organization due to the ban on the import of agricultural products. Polish publication RAP reported this on Tuesday, September 26, citing an EU source.
“On Tuesday, it was decided that the European Commission will represent the EU countries in the dispute before the WTO. The EU delegation includes experts from Poland, Hungary and Slovakia,” the publication wrote.
Unnamed European diplomats quoted by the agency said opening the WTO procedure “closes other channels of dialogue for Ukraine” in the grain embargo dispute.
This situation will be discussed on Wednesday in Brussels at the level of permanent representatives on the initiative of Poland, said the Polish Ambassador to the EU Andrzej Sados.
It is known that on Wednesday, September 27, negotiations will take place in Brussels between EU ambassadors and the issue of Ukrainian grain. And later in Geneva the consideration of the complaint filed by Ukraine against Poland, Hungary and Slovakia regarding the ban on the import of agricultural products will begin.
We remind you that on September 15, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary unilaterally introduced a national ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine.
And on September 21, it became known that Ukraine and Poland held negotiations on grain.
