This is a closed program, and no one will tell you what its status is. What I can tell you is that, unfortunately, Russia has reached the collection point for these missiles. Now we have transferred a certain part of production outside our country,” said the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, answering questions from journalists about Ukrainian long-range missiles.
In the same interview, Danilov said that the Ukrainian army does not intend to use American ATACMS long-range missiles to strike Russia.
According to him, these weapons will be “used exclusively to protect our territory.”
We will not use it on Russian territory, we have agreements with our partners,” Danilov said.
The NSDC Secretary added that in order to protect Ukraine, the war must be transferred to Russian territory.
Our task is to strike with our weapons at military installations of the Russian Federation, from which attacks on our children occur almost daily,” Danilov said.
According to him, Ukraine is not going to attack Russian civilians, but will strike “exclusively against military targets.”
The successful use of Ukrainian long-range weapons first became known at the end of August after an attack on the military-civil airport of Pskov. Then President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced that Ukrainian weapons had hit a target at a distance of 700 km.
In turn, Danilov then published a video of the launch of an unknown rocket on Facebook. At the same time, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, said that the Pskov airport was attacked by drones launched from Russia.
Last week, US authorities decided to transfer a small batch of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, sources told NBC News. The White House did not officially announce this. According to The Financial Times, US President Joe Biden kept silent about the transfer of missiles so as not to warn the Russian military. The Kremlin, commenting on the supply of ATACMS and Abrams tanks, said that this would not affect the course of the “special operation” in Ukraine.
Ukraine is also armed with Storm Shadow long-range missiles provided by the UK and France.
