The Russian side is assessing economic feasibility and using different types of weapons for attacks in the southern direction.
The Russian army is launching attacks towards Odessa and Nikolaev with Onyx anti-ship missiles because they lack cruise missiles. The spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuri Ignat, said this on Sunday, September 24, during a telethon.
He noted that the missiles have a limited range of up to 600 km.
“Caliber-type missiles can hit long-range targets that Onyx cannot. Therefore, they are sometimes used in the Odessa and Nikolaev regions,” Ignat said.
He emphasized that the Onyx is an anti-ship missile that could, in principle, hit the coast.
In his opinion, the Russian side is stockpiling Caliber missiles for other purposes.
“They have different types of weapons that they attack. They have Kh-22 missiles on long-range aviation carriers, they have aviation weapons like Kh-59, Kh-31 – missiles, which they also often use in our territory. The Russian Federation uses this type of weapons, which is considered more reasonable to use in one direction or another,” said Ignat.
Let us remind you that the representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, is confident that Ukraine will receive long-range ATACMS missiles.
According to media reports, the United States intends to transfer “a small number of ATACMS missiles” to Ukraine.
