American congressmen decided to keep $300 million. assistance to Ukraine. The decision comes as a bill to fund the State Department and foreign operations is introduced next week, which will also include funds for Ukraine. This was stated by Speaker of the US House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy, The Hill reports.
He said withdrawing aid from the State Department and foreign operations is “becoming more difficult,” so he decided to keep funds in both projects.
As early as next week, the House will hold a single procedural vote to advance appropriations bills, including those funding the Pentagon, State Department and overseas operations.
The draft law on financing the Pentagon includes $300 million. These funds will be used for assistance (including training), equipment purchases, logistics, salaries and military stipends, supplies and services, intelligence support for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, as well as other units or groups recognized and subordinate to the Ukrainian government.
Let us remind you that CNN reported that the Pentagon will send a new team to Ukraine to monitor the use of US aid. This comes amid calls from some Republicans in Congress for greater control over the use of American money.
