Authorities in Florida killed a four-foot alligator that was discovered Sept. 22 in a Largo canal with human remains in its mouth. The Guardian newspaper reported this.
The sheriff’s office said the animal was humanely euthanized after being removed from the water.
So far, law enforcement has not clarified whether the alligator killed its victim or whether the remains were found. An autopsy can help determine this.
The identity of the deceased has not been established.
It has been noted that Florida is home to approximately one million alligators. Attacks by these animals resulting in human death are relatively rare. On average, there are about six such episodes each year in the United States.
Earlier it was reported that a crocodile killed a fisherman in India in front of his wife.
