Poland believes that the conflict between the two countries over the export of Ukrainian grain does not “significantly affect” relations between the two countries.
Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s port and grain infrastructure are part of a campaign aimed at worsening Ukraine’s relations with its western neighbors, particularly Poland. However, these attempts failed. This is stated in the report of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) for Friday, September 22.
ISW analysts believe that Polish President Andrzej Duda clarified Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s earlier statement that Warsaw would no longer provide arms to Ukraine. As it turned out, it was only about new weapons that Poland was buying for its country. Otherwise, they will abide by the initial agreements on arms supplies.
“Russia’s attempts to deepen divisions between Ukraine and its Central European partners appear to have failed as Polish Prime Minister Andrzej Duda reaffirmed the strength of Polish-Ukrainian relations on September 22,” the report said.
Duda was also quoted as saying that a potential conflict between the two countries over the export of Ukrainian grain via the European land route would not “significantly affect” relations between the two countries.
Let’s remember that this week the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki said that Warsaw is now focused on organizing its own army and is therefore not transferring military aid to Kyiv. Duda later said Morawiecki’s words were taken out of context. He also assured that the Polish arms contracts signed by Poland with Ukraine will be fulfilled.
