However, it turned out that 12 of these tanks needed repairs because they were found to have defects. There are problems with the 10 transferred tanks that are already in Ukraine. But these defects are already being eliminated by the Ukrainian side. This was reported on September 22 by the Danish television channel TV 2, which has a written briefing from Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
The minister added that another 10 Leopard 1A5 tanks are in Poland, and two of these tanks have serious defects.
Denmark retired Leopard 1A5 tanks from service in 2005. And in February 2023, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands agreed together to transfer approximately 100 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine.
Let us recall that the German publication Spiegel reported that Ukraine abandoned 10 German Leopard 1s due to their unsatisfactory condition. In the spring, Germany promised Ukraine 100 Leopard 1 tanks, but some armored vehicles had huge defects that the Ukrainian side refused to accept them.
