Joe Biden did not rule out a visit to one of the Central Asian countries. The visit, if it happens, would be the first time a US president has visited the region.
The United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will deepen cooperation in the fields of security, economy and energy. This was stated in a statement from the White House on Thursday, September 21.
The document says that the leaders of the countries during the UN General Assembly at the first presidential summit in the C5+1 format agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of security, economy and energy.
“We reaffirm our commitment to strengthening security cooperation as an important foundation in addressing shared security challenges in the region and supporting the sovereignty and independence of Central Asian states,” the White House statement said.
The United States plans to increase security funding for Central Asia and begin a dialogue to help five countries in the region acquire minerals and strengthen energy security.
Biden also intends to continue cooperation between the United States and Central Asia on border security, counterterrorism and law enforcement activities.
Biden approved a new aid package for Ukraine. It will include artillery, ammunition and anti-tank weapons.
The United States remains committed to supporting Kyiv in its defense against Russian aggression.
