Baku noted its readiness to sign a peace agreement and said that 70% of the text of the peace agreement had been agreed upon.
Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev confirmed Baku’s readiness to sign a peace treaty with Armenia. He said this on September 20 at a briefing by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry for representatives of the diplomatic corps recognized in Baku, RosSMI reported.
“What is important for us is not the platform on which the peace agreement is discussed, but what exactly is being discussed. In principle, 70% of the text of the peace agreement has been agreed upon. We reiterate our readiness to sign a peace agreement… We stand for the normalization of relations with Armenia. But the presence of thousands of military forces is unacceptable on the territory of independent Azerbaijan,” he said.
Let’s recall that on September 19, Azerbaijan began “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh to restore constitutional order. Later, an ultimatum was given to Yerevan in Baku.
And on September 20, it became known that hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were suspended by the order of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
