Experts say that the distinguishing features of the drone attack are “Ukrainian style,” as well as an inscription in Ukrainian on the drone’s controller.
Ukraine’s special services are likely behind the attacks on Wagner PMC forces in Sudan. CNN reported this on Tuesday, September 19, citing sources.
It was noted that the strikes were carried out two days after the Wagnerites delivered a large shipment of weapons to Sudan, the material says.
The operation included a series of attacks on the paramilitary group RSF, which is believed to be receiving help from Wagner in its battle with the Sudanese army for control of the country.
CNN’s Ukrainian military source described the operation as the work of a “non-Sudanese military.” When asked if Ukraine was behind the attacks, the interlocutor simply replied that “probably the Ukrainian special services are responsible for this.”
Additionally, video footage obtained by CNN revealed distinctive features of “Ukrainian-style” drone attacks.
Two commercially available drones widely used by Ukrainians were involved in at least eight strikes, with Ukrainian text visible on the drone’s controller.
Video from the drone controller’s monitor shows text in English and Ukrainian, specifically, the word “Zupinity.”
Experts also said that the tactics used, especially the pattern of drones diving directly into the target, were highly unusual for Sudan.
At the same time, a senior Sudanese military source said that he “did not know about the Ukrainian operation in Sudan” and did not believe it.
It was previously reported that Bayraktar drones were spotted at the Wagner military base in Mali.
