The Ukrainian Action Plan has already been submitted to the European Commission. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy believes that their proposal should alleviate the situation.
Ukraine has submitted to the European Commission an action plan to control the export of Ukrainian grain to the EU. The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Nikolai Solsky spoke about its contents at a meeting of the Agrarian Committee of the European Parliament, the press service of the ministry reports.
“According to our action plan, Ukraine will control and regulate exports in this way: we agree with the European Commission and importing countries on the necessary list and quantity of agricultural products from in four crops, they, in turn, determine if they are ready to accept these crops, when and in what quantities. Only after this we issue permits to our enterprises to export certain products . That is, Ukraine controls its exports and links them to recipient countries,” the minister emphasized.
He also said that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Tuesday approved a new procedure for exporting certain types of products to individual EU member states. It stipulates that the four crops (corn, rapeseed, sunflower, wheat) exported to the five countries must obtain a license from the Ministry of Economy in agreement with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
“We believe that this method of work will satisfy all parties. And even the three countries that are now opposing Ukrainian agricultural exports will also join this plan. Because we all have one goal – success in the this terrible war,” the Minister of Agriculture. The policy was emphasized, adding that for this there must be mutual understanding and mutual support.
As you know, due to the situation with grain exports, Ukraine’s relations with Poland, where the election campaign is currently underway, have deteriorated significantly.
We remind you that Ukraine filed a case in the World Trade Organization (WTO) against three Eastern European countries that unilaterally extended the ban on the import of grain, despite the fact that the European Commission lifted the restrictions that step. In turn, Poland withdrew from the grain platform from Ukraine and will stop helping Ukrainian refugees. In response, Ukraine announced an embargo on Polish vegetables and fruits.
President Andrzej Duda compared Ukraine to a dangerous drowning man. He said his country wants to help Ukraine, but it must defend the interests of its own farmers.
