Official Baku said it considers the explosion incident in the Khojavend region of Karabakh as a terrorist attack.
Four employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan were killed as a result of a mine explosion in the Khojavend region of Karabakh. This was stated in a joint message from the Prosecutor General’s Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Security Service of Azerbaijan.
The explosion occurred in the village of Tagaverd, Khojavend district, on Tuesday evening at the moment “when the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were on their way in a truck to the place of the terrorist attack in the 58th km of Akhmedbeyli -Fuzuli-Shusha road, as a result of which two employees of the State Agency of Highways of Azerbaijan were killed.”
“The mine was laid by a sabotage group of Armenian illegal armed groups operating in the territory of temporary deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces,” the Azerbaijani side said.
Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies are treating the incident as a terrorist attack.
The Main Investigation Department of the country’s State Security Service opened a criminal case under several articles, including terrorism.
Earlier, Armenia said that being in the CSTO “creates problems.”
